SITE 10 MYSTERY

In our long term monitoring of Rattlechain lagoon, (formerly known as “mere”), we have noted many a visitor into and out of the site, both animal and human, (and sometimes not quite sure.)

We have also noted several licence breaches.

Last week a curious set of open gates awaited this happy snapper as he made his way along John’s Lane. Wide open, what was going on here?

S1120003

It became quickly apparent that there was no one on site. No vehicles or persons present, but there was a single swan on the lake, (damn). The most strinking thing about this abandoned Marie Celeste Scene was the trusty padlock with the iconic chain still attached. And more interesting than that, the set of keys bearing the key fob Number 10. Was there as I previously jested, a potential motel plan in the pipeline at this notorious waste tipping site?

S1120004

This set of keys must by now, have a special hanging place in the Rhodia/Solvay lobby or room where they are held. It is just unusual that there wasn’t a 1 missed off the end of it, as this would make a rather good Room 101 site, for chucking everything that industry didn’t want, as well as HM GOV war materials, into the watery void below. It also made me think that every time a key holder picked up this notorious set of keys that they did so with a fear of trepidation about going there, (couldn’t think why.)

But abandonment  wasn’t a long lasting observation as a lorry trailer and new small digger aboard appeared.

S1120008

S1120012

Ready for action

S1120013

Not long after this, another swan turned up- they’re starting to flit now in the October winds.

S1120025

But what were the diggers there for at site 10…….?

Time for the gang to investigate……….

TFI FOI

Just about the single best event of the Blair Government was The Freedom of Information Act 2000. If it wasn’t for this we would certainly be in the dark about a great deal about what has transpired at Rattlechain lagoon, and also it is unlikely that this blog would even exist.

We have learned about Albright and Wilson’s past activities, their wartime endeavours, Rhodia’s plans, Environment Agency inaction, and above all how multiple agencies appear to have conspired to try to cover up what was going on at this controversial site.

There are many others from environmental campaigning backgrounds who use the Act to try to examine what is put out into the media arena for public consumption, but more importantly they realise that much of this is only what the communications industry want people to know. The rest will be buried, and FOI is usually the only way to open the draws of an authority and have a good rummage around to find something useful, and what fun it is to fiddle them.

One particular request on the anvil has been going on now for some years. This deals with the fire that occurred at Rhodia’s Trinity Street site in January 2009. Since then they have even changed name to Solvay. As this incident was related to white phosphorus and its breakdown products, it has been something that we want to know about and look at more closely- particularly the impact that the chemicals released may have had on the environment.

IMGA0135(1)

SOURCE

The quest to discover the report into this , and subsequent lessons learned has now led to six requests to The Health and Safety Executive, the authority responsible in the UK for investigating industrial incidents such as this that impact on employees and the public.

This week we got a reply to request number 6, which revealed that they still have not got around to making any decision as to whether to prosecute the company, though they have after over 5 years now completed their investigation. Once again we will have to submit another request in a few months time, but perhaps by then we will know a little more.

The truth is certainly out there, and we will in the course of time get there in the end.

Rain rain go away

Well Autumn arrived today after one of the driest Septembers on record. A stark contrast to the last 30 days or so. It was blowing a gale this morning around Tividale and the puddles were forming around the John’s Lane area.

Rain on the lens!

It used to be the case that you could gauge the water levels by the dividing causeway path, but after last years tinkering it’s more difficult. I would estimate however as a long time visitor that the levels are at their lowest for some years. The re-profiled path is much broader than the old one, but the raising of the sediments via the geotextile and the sand added have resulted in less water in the main lagoon than ever before.

S1110010

S1110011

The best indicator of the plunging levels is offered by the newest feature at the beleaguered site- the rattlechain pier, still firing water cannon at seagulls from the smaller uncapped contaminated lagoon.

S1110009

S1110014

The following is a comparison taken from April/May just this year, which shows just how the conniving froggies at Trinity Street have allowed the smaller lagoon to empty- but for what purpose?

Off the chain

And so back to rattlechain lagoon. It has predictably been very quiet now for some time, but the watch goes on there every day. Birds observed in far less numbers than ever before after nearly a year after the main water “improvement” works were drawing to a close. Not much to show that anything had ever taken place there with the growth of vegetation, except the removal of the waste pipe and pontoons, which was always part of the fallacy that it had somehow been “cleaned up”. I had to do a double take at The Sandwell show recently when a familiar structure appeared like a cream Tardis on the showground.

IMGA0730

Now where have I seen that before?

Oh I remember now.

H1500001

The hosepipe that has been connected to the new pier has now been turned off.

IMGA0718

There is still no explanation for this bizarre spectacle, though it is apparent that the water levels in both lagoons have dropped substantially. There is probably less water in the main lagoon than has ever been in there since waste tipping started. It is evident to see from the way in which birds walk on the sandy deposits that the North side embankment blends into the lake where once reed beds stood.

IMGA0719

A couple of swans dropped in over the last week, but didn’t stay very long. This appears typical of most birds at the site, which is odd given the lack of disturbance there.

S1160001

S1160007

Some of surviving geese that Sandwell council didn’t kill also turn up, but mainly the seagulls are the sole occupiers now.

S1160020

The relayed causeway path, now wider than in the latter waste tipping days, when it frequently breached, is now more like it was in the mid 1960’s. It is also starting to green up as before.

Goings on at the Gower

A few weeks ago I noticed some disturbances at Rhodia/Solvay’s still controlled Gower Tip. Though my canalside view was limited, it was clear that behind the trees there had been some excavations taking place within the site, and clearly this had exposed some of the previously tipped waste there.

IMGA0596

What was this I thought, this site was officially a closed site, and the licence issued in 1978 had been surrendered according to Sandwell council and the Environment agency. It was obvious that something was afoot, and then I saw a couple of site occupants dressed in the colours of Solvay’s environmental consultants at Rattlechain, ERM.

IMGA0599

Monitoring at the Gower?

So it was time to hit the streets and have a look around the rest of the visible parts of the site. From George Wood Avenue it was clear that new site boreholes were being installed- but why after all this time- a bit bloody late given that new houses are currently being built at “The Forge” right next to the site!

IMGA0610

IMGA0607

IMGA0613

A cleared pathway

Around the dug parts of the site, a white ugly mixture was visible from beneath the soil. So what exactly was exposed here, and what justification allowed this- given that this site is supposed to offer no threat?

IMGA0616

Another exposed bottle

The fenceline at the tip can be seen in context with the area of houses yet to be built. It seems to me reading between the lines that some of the content on this website may have resulted in some rather uncomfortable questions being asked by the developers and those living around the area. Perhaps this map had something to do with it, given the questions around the historic boundary of where tipping took place? No doubt we will get yet another whitewash report about human health, but the proof will be not in the soil tests or monitoring but in 25 years time when people start asking questions as to whether health concerns they have, are anything to do with that old piece of fenced off land that no-one knows much about, and cannot find out much about from Environment agency records, or those held by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.

IMGA0617

IMGA0618

New occupants will be able to look down on the historic waste dump at the bottom of their gardens. Just look out for the fairies with the multiple limbs and two heads

In support of Canada geese

Team Canada

TEAM CANADA

We have gone off on a bit of a tangent of late concerning the liars at Sandwell council and their murdering ways concerning the Canada geese. But don’t think you’re off the hook Rhodia/Solvay as you should know by now that “I am a man with a very particular set of skills, skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.” Multi tasking a speciality.

IMGA0663

Turning a harmless bird into a monster is what they are trying to do, but they are the monsters

If only the likes of DEFRA, Natural England and the AHVLA cared about “native species” that were poisoned by an unnatural non-native chemical dumped by a polluting British chemical company. I remember dealing with some bloke called Herrity at some organisation or other connected with “wildlife surveillance”- waste of bloody space entirely. Would never have got anywhere from anyone in a .gov organisation, and the truth would never have been revealed.

If only “the coalition of the shilling” -Sandwell council, The health and Safety Executive, The Environment agency, and The Health Protection Agency cared about the threat to human health posed by the chemicals concerned at Rattlechain  instead of protecting business. But they didn’t care and we not them have exposed how wildlife and people were being threatened by this toxic lake of death.

This is separate to the proven poisoning of lakes with Albright and Wilson  phosphates over the years, and the unseen or monitored release into the water catchment of calcium phosphates from a source known to contain thousands of tonnes of calcium phosphate pumped under discharge consent into the Birmingham Canal.

THE DENIERS

IMGA0707

But whereas certain chemical companies are no doubt  Corporate  killers, there exists an even worse serial killer which exists out there- the serial killer in denial about what they have done, to the point that they will invent stories of going to a better place- a heaven like Nirvana, just like those who peddle religion find it easy to almost convince themselves in the fairy story that they tell to their grandchildren after also going to feed the ducks and that death is not the finality that it really is. I am talking about Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.

This non- entity of an authority is 40 years old this year and has always been throughout under Labour control. Currently 70 out of 72 councillors are Labour elected. They must feel pretty smug, but looking at some of their mugshots, it is plain to see that many of them and their forebears are “non-native” to Great Britain. Some of them are also not exactly an example of an Aryan master race either being both old and also grossly obese, even though they appear to support extermination policy of a certain species.  Should I point this out- well yes I am going to because it is the truth. Like many in the officer category in the council, they cannot claim relatives going back and living here since 1665 when the Canada goose  was first brought here, as previously mentioned -by white land owning slave-masters against its will. They were not economic migrants.

Canada geese eat what they can get and largely graze on the little grass that surrounds park pools, with water borne vegetation very poor in urban areas, largely as a result of the use of pesticides such as DDT. On some park islands in Sandwell nothing grows. This is not the Canada gooses fault but that of some over zealous park gardeners of the past. This council does nothing to address this issue.

20140808_185728

It’s just grass for fucks sake, get over it and your paranoia of shit

Whereas the Canada goose is “non-native”, people of non- native origin enjoy protection from discrimination through equality laws passed relatively recently in this country’s  history. At the same time as these type of laws are strengthened through progressive European human rights legislation, so the rights of “non- native” animals get ever weaker and more prejudiced by European bureaucratic bigots and their ignorance.

The Conservative party in power have shown themselves to be an anti wildlife party fuelled on killing things for farming and business interest- hence the abhorrent “infrastructure bill.” But Labour claim to be the party for animal welfare, having passed the Hunting with Dogs Act amongst others. There is also the The Labour Animal Welfare society  (LAWS) who campaign for the rights of animals within the political sphere. They rightly call for an end to Government backed culls of wildlife.

But what do Labour do in power when they have it -such as in Local authority dictatorships such as Sandwell?

THE FACTS

  • Sandwell council kills Canada geese in secret yet tries to deny it.
  • Sandwell council are a Labour run authority promoting we are supposed to believe equality and animal welfare policy.
  • They condemn the CON-DEMS for things like the badger cull because of class issue, yet in power themselves instigate the exact same measures against other animals and birds whose relatives have been here longer than theirs.
  • THEY ARE UTTER COWARDS, HYPOCRITES AND LIARS.

In our time of rescuing injured wildfowl in this borough, of all types regardless of species, we have received nothing but criticism, ignorance, apathy and downright malevolence from this local authority- and the majority of its officers. Some rangers have helped us but others (who strangely buggered off to France in retirement 🙂 😀 D did nothing but spread lies about us as mischief- makers.

I personally have dealt with this,

and many, many more like it, all of them caused by the wilful destruction of human hands, yet all these incidents combined do not tally up or compare with the number of birds that JOHN SATCHWELL, PARKS MANAGER AT SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL chose to murder in the park that they shared with him as a neighbour. This act of murder was worse, and he and his authority are worse than any of the perpetrators of the senseless wanton vandalism detailed above, or any that I have ever read about anywhere else.

It was pre-planned, clandestinely executed and then denied- all the hall marks of the serial killer.

———————————————————————————————————-

Sometimes a line has to be drawn and from now on we will no longer be using the name “Sandwell” in our group- we are just “swanwatch”. We no longer wish to be associated with this pathetic borough, its one man dictatorship and its murder of wildlife. We do not just care about swans and their plight, but all wildfowl who share the same lake as this “native” species.

Birds are not racist in their acceptance of food from a diverse community that this council actively promotes- yet isn’t it strange that such an authority tries to stop the one thing that actually unites the whole of the community in an act of selfless compassion towards the birds by feeding them? This is something that their paid self elected “community leader” shills  could never achieve in their MBE awarded lifetimes.

One bird at the Victoria park site, a cross breed who we knew as “Alfie”  had lived there as resident for at least 15 years. He is missed by many people who ask where he has gone. I have of course told them, and also who killed him.

IMGA0701

This is not “Alfie” but the nearest we could find. RIP poor little Alfie

CALL TO ACTION

So along with our name drop, we call on all those who care and feed birds, including the substantial Hindu community who live in Tividale and Oldbury to boycott future Sandwell council run events in protest at this MURDEROUS action, and their misappropriation of taxpayers money for their invented complaints about geese.

We also ask that as it appears that the 220 were killed on Sandwell property, most likely Forge Mill Farm, that you boycott going to The Sandwell park farm and Forge Mill farm. Use the entrance fee towards buying some corn for the birds, that can be bought much more cheaply in a local pet shop than they sell it for there.

We have now set up a new website dealing with the Canada geese issue in Sandwell

It also has a facebook page.

We are  organising two petitions to condemn this senseless slaughter and call on this council to never again resort to such drastic and ignorant action, where alternative methods of solving an issue to what they and a vocal minority of people see as “a problem” being repeated.

Please sign the petition to stop Sandwell council slaughtering Canada geese.

The Sandwell petition for those who live or work in Sandwell is being widely circulated and we need your help here if you fit this criteria, to call on a senior council officer to give evidence under scrutiny for this unnecessary evil action.

Flyers, education, Direct Action to follow.

We will not forget our fallen comrades at Victoria park Tipton, and Dartmouth park West Bromwich, and we will never forgive those who brought this about. Their time will come.

Talking shite- SMBC and Councillor Maria Crompton

It’s been a busy week to say the least. A week ago the story about the savage action of SMBC was broken by the Birmingham Mail. The video exploded onto youtube and then the news spread to The Express and Star, The Daily Mirror and The Daily Mail. Of these I only spoke to the Daily Mail who contacted me. Then on Tuesday I was contacted by BBC Radio WM. I was told that Maria Crompton (booo hisss), was going to be on the show with presenter Mollie Green. Would I like to come on- is the Pope Catholic?

This is available to all on iplayer for a couple of more days- so make the most of it. We have recorded a copy for evidence purposes.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p024qf3c

What I find most disturbing about this interview, despite the loss of 220 birds, was Crompton’s total lack of understanding of the issue and the revelation that despite being the cabinet member responsible, according to the FOI request that verbally authorised this murder, she was unable to answer when questioned as to HOW THE BIRDS HAD BEEN KILLED. The transcript of the show reads as follows at the 43.00 minute mark into the two hour show:

MOLLIE GREEN: “So the adults were killed?”

MARIA CROMPTON “We did take the adults and they were “humanely destroyed”.

MOLIIE GREEN: “How were they destroyed Maria?”

7 second silent pause

MARIA CROMPTON: “I don’t know how they were destroyed, I know that they were taken to one of our farms and erm the company that is erm that took them are fully licensed by Natural England and that is what their job is to “humanely destroy”…. these….these geese.”

MOLLIE GREEN: “And you have no idea how?”

MARIA CROMPTON: “I don’t know how they killed the geese, no.”

It’s worth pausing to read Sandwell Council’s full statement on this issue. Most of it is not worthy of comment due to the misguided and misinformed slurs on Canada geese- an obvious attempt to make people- especially with children fear and loath a harmless creature.

“Councillor Maria Crompton, Sandwell Council’s cabinet member for highways and environment, said: “No-one would want to have to do this – but unfortunately, as a responsible authority, we had no choice but to reduce the number of Canada Geese at these two parks.

“I’m very sad we had to do this but people’s safety and public health are paramount. We have done this as a last resort and as humanely as possible in response to repeated complaints and real concerns from park users, including parents of young children.

“We’ve tried pricking and oiling goose eggs in the past to try to reduce numbers, and continue to do so, but we find this has little effect.

“With more than 1,000 geese grazing in our parks and a pair of geese rearing anything from four to eight goslings a season, the numbers had got out of control, especially at Victoria Park, Tipton, and Dartmouth Park, West Bromwich.

“A large flock defecating every few minutes can deposit a great deal of mess. They can foul lawns and footpaths and can have environmental impact on the quality of parks, green spaces, lakes and pools. The droppings contain bacteria and may be harmful if inadvertently swallowed.

“We receive numerous complaints from families with young children complaining about the mess they leave and their aggressive behaviour during the breeding season.

“The increase in numbers has had a detrimental impact on other waterfowl. We’re trying to re-introduce more ornamental ducks back into the formal parks – but before we do, we need to control the numbers of Canada Geese to acceptable levels.

“We appointed a company licensed by Natural England. Geese were taken to a discreet place completely away from public view, in line with accepted methods. Clearly, we wouldn’t have wanted people to see this happening in the park.

“We hope this action has brought the numbers of geese down to more manageable levels in these parks, making them safer and cleaner for park users, especially children.”

We have rubbished most of these remarks and hers in a previous post, but there  is more detailed rebuttal needed which will appear in a future post. It appears that this “discreet place” was obviously a Sandwell Farm, as evidenced by Crompton’s on air admission. WE THEREFORE APPEAR TO HAVE CONFIRMATION THAT THESE SANDWELL GEESE WERE KILLED ON SANDWELL COUNCIL PROPERTY.

It has come to our attention that Councillor Crompton is a keen horse rider, and we wonder if she makes a point of clearing up after her horse when it needs to go to the toilet on a highway or down a country Lane. All those germs in those big hefty piles Councillor! Think of how many children could go blind rolling in it, and if they inadvertently swallow some- I perish to think of what might happen. Then they are so aggressive aren’t they with those big teeth that they have, and those big long legs for kicking people with!  I think it would be better if SMBC introduced rocking horses at Sandwell Valley and at the working farms. Rocking horse shite doesn’t harm anyone.

Some animals are obviously more equal than others, and obviously this also applies to the shit that they produce as well.

The Pest Exterminator briefing

We now know that Sandwell council contracted pest exterminator firm “PESTEX”
to round up and exterminate many Canada geese in two of their Green Flag parks. This followed a mysterious briefing to the cabinet member which Sandwell council claim “is not a public document”.

IMGA0615

Not an “ornamental duck” but a real one. But for how long will they be there given Sandwell Council’s record on wildfowl slaughter?

Our latest video package is shown below. Look out for one of these four employees of this company spitting on the grass- that’s top quality that- I wonder if there were any diseases present or what Sandwell council makes of young families playing football on that grass, or if they may accidentally swallow the spittle? They use these arguments to target the geese do they not?

20130710_061401(2)

“WE DON’T KILL BIRDS MATE.” WELL OBVIOUSLY YOU DO 220 CANADA GEESE ACCORDING TO SANDWELL COUNCIL WHICH IS WHAT THEY PAID YOU TO DO “MATE”.

BUT WHAT OF THE COMPANY INVOLVED?

“FLYCONTROL.CO.UK LIMITED”-DISSOLVED

“ESTUARY LIMITED”-DISSOLVED

Also run by Cook and Warner besides Pestex we have

“WILDLIFE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES LIMITED”

(The service is obviously not in the business of saving any)

and

“SAFER ACCESS SOLUTIONS LIMITED”– they use the acronym “SAS” 😆 – YEAH THEY REALLY DO- rope abseiling apparently for getting rid of those pesky Libyan pigeon terrorists hiding in embassies and holding secretaries hostage. “WHO SNARES WINS”?

Whatever the briefing against the geese, which may well have had some pecuniary interest from the person responsible, (was this declared?) the following below is a briefing about the pest control industry.

Typically a male dominated industry, the successful candidate will be completely devoid of any compassion towards wild animals. Typically they will assume a predator avatar such as a large dog, unusual exotic animal or more usually a bird of prey raptor. It is the control of this avatar that allows the exterminator the ability to express their gratification for violence and death explicitly- particularly thrilling for them in the open air environment. The feeding of such an avatar with live food feeds their lust to control it.

This “higher form of killing” and hunting stems from a troubled childhood. One of seclusion and bullying by the father in which the individual will start to enact the role-plays perpetrated on them towards animals and usually birds. They may have seen their fathers pulling the heads off chickens or pigeons. They may form partnerships in this killing activity as they mature into adulthood, and usually this will involve shooting birds along canal towpaths with air weapons or using catapults against cats which they class as “vermin”. The “vermin” is of course the thing that the bully saw them as and which they see themselves as- which is why they adopt the role of predator because it reminds them every time that they see “vermin” of themselves being bullied- which is why they adopt the role of bully to quell this thought.

IMGA0268(1)

Feeling small?

As time progresses the exterminator will unfortunately look for a mate in which domestic abuse will be prevalent. And then unfortunately along comes the child which will follow in the footsteps of the previous in being bullied, like his father before him. The avatar becomes key here when the child “adopts” the predator avatar in fear of his father- to continue the bloodlust that will continue to run in the family. Taking pictures together of “a trophy” with bright smiling faces is usually carried out and there may also be a collection of artefacts from dead animals or birds in the home- all reminders and regulators of their power and dominance in the cave dwelling and the fact that they are no longer the bullied vermin.

There will also be the tendency to act out power roles by the militarisation and regimentation of operations in their daily lives. Dressing up in camouflage gear assumes the colours of the avatar predator; knives or other weapons about their person also allow them to continue the dominance of talons of a bird or claws of a bear. Some may also have had military careers, though probably brief- the perfect scenario for re-enacting the cycle of bullying to assume ultimate dominance as the alpha male.

The pest extermination industry and that of the allied game keeping industry is one of wildlife criminality. You don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to see the number of people involved in these two fields are those who make up the majority of offences of wildlife crime. Be it badgers, foxes or even wild birds of prey of “native” origin- they will use poison, animal, traps and gun for their own pleasure.

All of the above is my own opinion of course- one that I would recommend a cull of them for. There are too many of those white people, and they spread disease- especially when the sewage from their homes overflows into controlled waters.

Karma is a wonderful thing, and perhaps those in this industry will find peace when returning as a cancerous bacterium. In this way the thing that they kill will also hopefully be another pest exterminator.

Sandwell council’s justification for murdering 220 geese

We now have confirmation that 220 Canada geese were apparently killed between 2013-14 in both Victoria park Tipton and Dartmouth Park West Bromwich. This follows sending our story to The Black Country Birmingham Evening Mail.

This shameful action of Sandwell Council  is justified by them in perhaps one of the most appallingly written letters I have ever read from a local authority. It also lays bare the rationale of prejudice rather than the facts of any scientific scrutiny. Animal Aid have produced an interesting discussion on this topic.

alternativestoculling

We will be setting the record straight about the Canada Goose  in a future post- please note NOT “CANADIAN GEESE”- They would be “Canadian” Canada geese if they came from Canada. Canadian geese is not a plural of Canada goose- it is Canada geese, in the same way as that more than one  Brent goose  are not  Brentian geese.

scan0016

  • What paper is she talking about, who authored it and what is their experience regarding Canada geese and position within Sandwell Council?
  • Why are geese singled out in terms of their increasing numbers as opposed to other wildfowl in the parks of Sandwell? Are they obsessed with having a quota on everything, including their equal opportunities within the council?
  • It is clearly evident to whom that the numbers have significantly increased to the point where they are a threat to public health and public safety? What figures do the council have to justify such an action? By what numbers have they increased and over what time period?
  • They claim to have oiled eggs and this has not reduced the numbers to “acceptable levels”- again what are “acceptable” levels and who decides what these levels are and the rationale behind it? Are 20 geese not a threat to public health and safety yet 30 are? The truth is that they are not a threat to human public health and safety at all.
  • “A more sustainable approach” – they mean genocide here.
  • I am not aware that geese damage grass and amenity land in parks and grasslands.
  • Damage has been caused to a wet meadow at Sheepwash Local Nature reserve by National Grid and their contractors this year which has yet to be rectified. This is in addition to the abysmal management of this site in terms of grass cutting in general. Then we have motorbikes, people trotting horse and carts in parks, urinating dogs, as well as many other birds, animals and even humans shitting on their precious blades. Why cull only the geese? In terms of damage, what level is caused by them compared to the other aforementioned?
20140808_185728

Recycled grass

  • They eat grass to survive because it is their natural diet. Sandwell council have a fascist attidude towards feeding birds in their open parks- which resulted in a single mother having been fined with her toddler for feeding the birds in Stoney Lane Park. Leader of Sandwell council Darren Cooper lives opposite this park.
  • I have not gone around timing how often geese defecate, and I have no idea what volume of excrement a single goose can be responsible for. Have they followed one around to determine this? How are the council able to distinguish between the excrement of other birds as opposed to just singling out Canada Geese?
  • The last paragraph if it were a Wikipedia article would be asking for “a citation needed”. It is all opinion and no evidence based statement. Determine using evidence that Canada geese do all the things mentioned and not all other birds within a park. Let us also not forget that these parks were man-made and unnatural in the first place- usually given by parasitic and corrupt industrialists who bought peoples votes and who’s families still swan around with airs and graces from afar complaining about the state of their ancestors benevolence going to waste. THESE PEOPLE “NON NATIVES” CAN SHIT OFF BACK TO AMERICA OR SPAIN OR WHEREVER ELSE THEY LIVE AS FAR AS WE ARE CONCERNED FAIRLY SOON.
  • Let us also not forget that “Victoria” park was named after a fat bitch of non-native German origin.
  • When talking about “environmental impact” ,how amazing that Sandwell council ignore the impact of Rattlechain lagoon when we drew their attention to it. The three local Labour councillors in which the ward was based did absolutely nothing on this issue, and neither did “Manboobs Hussein”. As for the useless Environmental health department at Sandwell Council, they only deal with harassing individuals instead of tackling business pollution.

  • What bacteria do the droppings contain Councillor Crompton- please be specific and how there is a specific bacteria in Canada goose droppings as opposed to any other birds. How does this differ from Dog mess or other animal waste, bearing in mind that Canada geese are herbivors and do not eat meat. If we are talking about animal zoonotic diseases perhaps take a look at how the farming industry has produced many over the last couple of decades, including bird flu in a turkey death camp.
  • What number of people have been affected by picking up diseases within Sandwell’s parks as a result of coming into contact with Canada geese droppings alone?
  • HOW DO SANDWELL COUNCIL JUSTIFY ALLOWING LONG DISTANCE SWIMMERS INTO SWAN POOL IN THE SANDWELL VALLEY, AND ALSO ORGANISING CHILDREN’S TRIATHLONS HERE IF THE QUALITY OF WATER IS SO BAD AS A RESULT OF CANADA GEESE SHITTING IN THE LAKE? If we are following the council’s rationale here then it is being irresponsible by allowing people to use this facility in this way and should stop it immediately. The risk is of course negligible, but they would be more likely to “inadvertently swallow” a turd in the water than a turd on the grass. The last sentence in this paragraph is ridiculous. What is the water quality like in the lakes across Sandwell?
  • How many complaints have been received specifically about the Canada geese alone and are these complaints justified or just the work of some over zealous hygiene obsessed mother or father caring about their own selfish genes? If they are such a burden to you then don’t have them in the first place.
  • Their “aggressive behaviour” is often fuelled by verminous children ( of which there are an increasing number and far too many), chasing them around, throwing sticks or loosing off dogs to chase them into the water which they think is funny. If this causes “aggression” then it is fully justified that the geese behave aggressively towards a predator threat. Aggression can also be fuelled by taking eggs off nests – thus killing the young of the birds. Perhaps people in Sandwell council might become aggressive if their pregnant wives when at the neonatal classes had a goose abortionist sneak in and create a tomato ketchup out of the thing that they are carrying around inside them.
  • “The increase in numbers has had a detrimental impact on other waterfowl.”

WHERE DO WE START WITH THAT ONE!

Firstly prove this with direct evidence showing how. The impact of human activity within parks and open spaces in Sandwell is caused purely by mans activities and not the Canada gooses.

  • Sandwell council do not plant natural foods in its parks and open spaces as we suggested. The park islands at Victoria Park were made sterile with pesticides many years ago.
  • Sandwell council allow drunks to fish on its pools overnight and park within the Sandwell Valley against their own angling code of conduct. When challenged on this Crompton has refused to do anything about this, as have the managers of the Sandwell Valley by changing the locks to which they obviously have keys.
  • pictures all taken in Sandwell where the issues have been entirely caused by human activity and Sandwell councils abysmal management of its parks and open spaces.

ALL OF THESE AND MANY MANY MORE WERE FOUND BY SWANWATCH AND IN MOST CASES DEALT WITH BY US AND NOT SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL.

  •  “Ornamental ducks”- another priceless piece of rationale from this thick council. So the wildlife is merely decorative and the existence purely for the eye. It was this perversion of nature that brought the Canada goose to this country in the first place as an “ornamental bird”. Kill one non-native species to replace it with another- the Muscovy duck. This particular bird is known as a prominent carrier of Duck Viral Enteritis and in the wild when released can pass on and infect birds across the lake in the same manner as Sandwell council are suggesting by faecal contact. That they are proposing release of domestic fowl onto a lake populated with wildfowl cannot be an idea proposed by any serious ecologist or conservation officer, nor one concerned with animal welfare. It is just another crazy idea with someone who views a park as a picture to look at.
  • As for the notion of introducing the two other species, these are birds that were bred for meat. It is unlikely that they would last very long on the formal parks given the proven poaching of Eastern Europeans taking place in the parks of Sandwell. I have evidence, not speculation, and the RSPCA and police scene of crime officers have been involved in the past when I have found this evidence.
  • What is an “acceptable level”? Yet again we see a politician dealing in quotas. The thinking behind their decision does not stack up to scrutiny.
  • PESTEX ARE LIARS. WHY DO THEY TELL PEOPLE THEY ARE DOING EVERYTHING THEY ARE NOT IF THEY HAVE SUCH A LICENCE? Why do they openly say they are going to break the law, and then appear to by releasing this “non-native species at an RSPB nature reserve for good measure!

  • “Acceptable methods of containment”. Crompton’s only concern appears to be that they did not escape whilst in transit. WHAT ABOUT ANIMAL WELFARE? THIS METHOD OF UNRESTRAINED GEESE PACKED INTO A CRATE IS CRUEL AND ABHORRENT. I HAVE EXPERINCE OF DEALING WITH THESE BIRDS, YOUR OFFICERS DO NOT. THEY NEED TO BE INDIVIDUALLY RESTRAINED WHEN BEING TRANSPORTED – AND BETTER STILL, NOT TRANSPORTED AT ALL WITH STUPID CULLS LIKE THIS.
  • The geese were not removed discretely, we videod and interrupted the action last year. If we had been there this year we would have stopped it with direct action. What discreet location were they taken to- an address in Greyhound Lane by any chance, or in Netherton by any chance – or was it the Sandwell park farm?

THE LOCAL FOOD BANK

  •  “Humanely culled”- that phrase used by anti wildlife murderers over the years. My definition of “humanity” is one of abhorrent cruelty such as acts like this, not compassion. The method of killing was not given to the journalist at the Birmingham mail- Sandwell Council  would not say. So was it gassing, shooting or neck breaking, and how does Crompton know that the method was carried out to acceptable standards??
  • The method described by Natural England requires that the geese are killed out of sight of the flock- yet they nor anyone else ever checks this out. A general licence issued by them is immoral licensed genocide of wildlife. They are a quite abhorrent organisation.
  • Number of goslings surviving on Sheepwash Local nature reserve this year-0. All taken by predators. As a large number are anyway on parks across Sandwell. Removing these birds will be more likely to result in other species including “ornamental ducks” being killed by predators. So

  • No you do not appreciate my concerns Crompton, you just gloss over them repeatedly as you did with my concerns about fencing off the lakes at Dartmouth Park preventing swans from accessing natural food, and also night fishing in the Sandwell Valley and anti-social behaviour issues- these which are against the council’s own policy.
  • Discussion?- what is the point of any discussion after the killing of 220 birds? This council are serial liars, cowards and murderers and are anti wildlife- what is there to discuss with such people? There is no way forward, so don’t try to pretend to be offering any form of olive branch. As I said before, you are now our enemies forever, and we will do everything possible to nail and undermine your council at every opportunity. This includes direct action against your council.

As for the pathetic threat offered by Crompton concerning the parks manager in question, we wonder if a pecuniary interest was declared at the cabinet briefing? Any highlighting of any individual is necessary to explore this issue, which may be prejudicial to the code of conduct for officers adopted by Sandwell Council. I believe strongly that this officer and perhaps others have breached this code in several instances and will be making a formal complaint to Sandwell Council’s Neeraj Sharma. We would like to make it clear that we target all of Sandwell council for this action. We also make it clear that to date we have followed through with everything that we said we would do if it turned out that Sandwell Council had killed innocent birds. WE WILL DEFEND THEM.
