Clearly visible during the excavation of material in this area were plumes of white phosphorus pentoxide springing up as the white phosphorus that has lain dormant probably for decades was disturbed in the soil. There is no question that this area nearest the houses is heavily contaminated with p4. The camera does not lie unlike the environmental consultant and their client produced reports.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/?attachment_id=749\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-749\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-749\" alt=\"20130225-132122(003)\" src=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/20130225-132122003.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_748\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/?attachment_id=748\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-748\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-748\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-748\" alt=\"20130225-132122(004)\" src=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/20130225-132122004.jpg\" width=\"630\" height=\"485\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-748\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">WHITE PLUME OF PHOSPHORUS PENTOXIDE AFTER WHITE PHOSPHORUS IN SOIL DISTURBED<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Not surprising really, given this Environment agency inspection report from 1999, just a few weeks before I observed the first dead swan on the lagoon, that&#8217;s after the EA had told them to &#8220;clean up&#8221; the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/?attachment_id=646\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-646\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-646\" alt=\"scan0027\" src=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/scan0027.jpg\" width=\"516\" height=\"763\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This material which would still have contained p4 was shovelled with no regard towards the water along with pieces of previously dumped hardcore and bricks within the dirt. In addition the reed bed areas were also stirred up with floating debris in attendence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_750\" style=\"width: 636px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/?attachment_id=750\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-750\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-750\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-750 \" alt=\"20130225-130224(003)\" src=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/20130225-130224003.jpg\" width=\"626\" height=\"451\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-750\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SHOVEL IT INTO THE WATER<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A pair of canada geese looked on bewildered, as coots danced across the water and seagulls retreated to the North embankment.
