It was speculated that the munitions were disturbed by work on an undersea gas link between the two countries.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I have found a few more incidents similar to this which reveal the British Government&#8217;s insane legacy of post war fly-tipping.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>30th August 1968 Whitstable Times and Herne Bay Herald <\/strong>reported how a young boy had been digging near to a caravan site in Swalecliffe when the mud started to smoke.<\/p>\n<p>One may speculate if the &#8220;enemy&#8221; had dropped a bomb in the area, or if this was another Gov dumping event gone wrong.<\/p>\n<p>It appears that there was not much of a plan, other than to rake the area and let it burn out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/awb30.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14486\" src=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/awb30-300x218.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"364\" srcset=\"https:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/awb30-300x218.png 300w, https:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/awb30-768x559.png 768w, https:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/awb30.png 828w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/awb31.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14487\" src=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/awb31-300x186.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"311\" srcset=\"https:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/awb31-300x186.png 300w, https:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/awb31.png 568w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Just a couple of years later, the <strong>Herne Bay Press<\/strong> of <strong>24th July 1970<\/strong> revealed that more p4 had washed ashore <strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8220;probably from a submerged wreck in The Thames Estuary&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/strong>. I have no doubt that this was from the notorious <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/SS_Richard_Montgomery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SS Richard Montgomery<\/a>, which the UK Government have been shitting themselves for years as to what to do with it, but I don&#8217;t think that these off floaters from the wreck , or the potential for such events have been publicised in recent times.
