It is clear to see from this spin that the company were trying to dampen concerns about the multitude of hazardous and flammable chemicals stored at the site by claiming that the fire was not caused by any of them. NOT SO MUCH SPECULATION AS TO THE RISK THAT THIS FIRE MAY HAVE POSED SHOULD IT HAVE REACHED THESE STORED SUBSTANCES HOWEVER.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/HS008-FIRE.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8146\" src=\"http:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/HS008-FIRE-300x231.png\" alt=\"HS008 FIRE\" width=\"600\" height=\"461\" srcset=\"https:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/HS008-FIRE-300x231.png 300w, https:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/HS008-FIRE-768x591.png 768w, https:\/\/whatliesbeneathrattlechainlagoon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/HS008-FIRE.png 771w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is no information at all concerning safety data for these highly toxic chemicals.<\/p>\n<p>WE PROVIDE THEM HERE. NB the organisation &#8220;Public Health England&#8221; was formerly known as The Health Protection Agency who carried out a human health Risk Assessment for Rhodia at Rattlechain lagoon.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Public Health England\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hpa.org.uk\/webc\/HPAwebFile\/HPAweb_C\/1194947365071\" target=\"_blank\">Chlorine\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>&#8220;Chlorine is a poisonous gas that may cause delayed, fatal lung damage at high concentrations. At lower concentrations, chlorine may cause eye irritation and coughing. Chlorine was used as a chemical warfare agent during World War I.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>&#8220;Exposure of the general public to chlorine may arise through accidental release during road or rail transport.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"PHE PHOSPHINE\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hpa.org.uk\/webc\/HPAwebFile\/HPAweb_C\/1203084371290\" target=\"_blank\">phosphine.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Health<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Very toxic by inhalation; symptoms usually occur within a few hours of exposure<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\"><strong>Phosphine is irritating to the mucous membranes of the nose, mouth, throat and respiratory tract<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\"><strong>Inhalation may result in weakness, chest tightness and pain, dry mouth, cough, sickness, vomiting, diarrhoea, chills, muscle pain, headache, dizziness, ataxia, confusion and lung damage. These symptoms may develop 2-3 days after exposure<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\"><strong>Severe poisoning may result in increased heart rate, low blood pressure, convulsions, coma, heart damage and death. These symptoms usually within 4 days but may be delayed up to 1-2 weeks<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\"><strong>Exposure to the eyes or skin may cause irritation<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\"><strong>Long-term exposure may cause anaemia, bronchitis, gastrointestinal disorders, speech and motor problems, toothache, weakness, weight loss, swelling and damage of the jaw bone and spontaneous fractures<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\"><strong>Phosphine has not been associated with cancer<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\"><strong>Phosphine is not likely to cause reproductive or developmental effects<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Environment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\"><strong>Dangerous for the Environment<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\"><strong>Inform Environment Agency of substantial release incidents<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0According to this document<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&#8220;It is very unlikely that the general population will be exposed to a level of phosphine high enough to cause adverse health effects.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Well if you live near to this factory does the risk increase or decrease?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; HS\/008 OVERVIEW This application concerned consent for chlorine and phosphine to be stored on the site.
